I have been writing since my grandmother taught me how to write my ABCs. Since then, I’ve been published in a variety of places including ChristianDevotions.us, Thriving Family magazine, Splickety Love magazine, and various books. I’m represented by Jonathan Clements of Wheelhouse Literary Group.
I coauthor The Write Editing, a blog where Andrea Merrell and I provide writers with professional answers to their writing and editing questions. I also write at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference blog.
I’ve been teaching at writers conferences across the United States since 2013. For more information on my Speaking Topics, please click here.
I am also a freelance editor. Several of my clients have gone on to win awards for their writing or their books, including Best New Writer at Write to Publish, Selah Awards, and the prestigious Director’s Choice Award at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference.
I have served as an Associate Editor at Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, where I edited fiction and non-fiction books and was on several of their publishing boards, including Firefly Southern Fiction and Beacon Heritage.
I have been creating things since I was young, as well. My first photographs were of the dandelions popping up out of the cracks in the sidewalks. I took them when I was four. I learned to latch hook when I was a preteen. I picked up scrapbooking when I was in college, unless you consider plastering posters and various momentos across your bedroom wall the same. I was doing that at thirteen. Kirk Cameron always had a featured spot. When I was in my twenties, I took a job making jewelry for Randall Johnson Revelations. I learned a lot from him about how to craft solid jewelry pieces. And now that I’m in my forties, of course I’ve taken up crocheting and mixed media art. A girl can’t have too many projects, after all…

When I’m not busy writing or editing, I enjoy spending time with my husband Victor and our four children. My hobbies include hiking, reading, watching television and movies, taking photographs, making jewelry, and crocheting. I’m quite fond of coffee and chocolate, but the coffee must be decaffeinated or I’ll suffer a headache for three days.
